We recognise that our operations, activities and relationships may have an impact on the human rights of others and we seek to prevent, mitigate and remedy any adverse impacts that may arise.

Scope

This policy applies to all our employees, contractors, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders. It covers all aspects of the employment relationship, such as recruitment, working conditions, workplace culture, career progression, pay, promotion, training, performance management, discipline, grievance and termination. It also reflects the specific context and risks of our operations, activities and relationships.

Principles and Commitments

This policy is guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Bill of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and other relevant standards and laws. We respect and support the following human rights principles and commitments:

  • We promote a workplace free of discrimination and harassment of all forms. We do not tolerate any discrimination or harassment on the basis of sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status (including disability, mental status and sexual orientation). We treat all our employees and stakeholders with dignity and respect.
  • We uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining. We respect the right of our employees to join or form trade unions and to bargain collectively. We engage in constructive dialogue and consultation with our employees and their representatives on matters affecting their interests and welfare.
  • We prohibit all forms of forced or compulsory labour, human trafficking and child labour. We do not use or benefit from any form of forced or compulsory labour, human trafficking or child labour in our operations, activities or relationships. We ensure that all our employees and contractors are free to leave their employment or contract at any time with reasonable notice. We verify the age and identity of all our employees and contractors and do not employ anyone under the minimum legal age.
  • We provide fair and equitable wages and benefits to all our employees. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding wages, benefits and working hours. We ensure that our employees receive at least the minimum wage or the prevailing industry wage, whichever is higher.
  • We ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all our employees. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding health and safety at work. We provide our employees with adequate training, equipment and personal protective gear to perform their tasks safely. We implement appropriate measures to prevent accidents, injuries and illnesses at work. We report and investigate any incidents or near misses promptly. We provide our employees with access to medical care and compensation in case of work-related injuries or illnesses.
  • We respect the privacy and personal data of all our employees and stakeholders. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding data protection and privacy. We collect, use, store and disclose personal data only for legitimate purposes and with consent where required. We protect personal data from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We respect the right of our employees and stakeholders to access, correct, or delete their personal data.
  • We support the development and empowerment of all our employees. We provide our employees with opportunities for learning, development and career advancement. We encourage feedback, innovation and creativity among our employees. We recognise and reward performance excellence and contribution to our goals.
  • We encourage dialogue and engagement with all our stakeholders on human rights issues. We communicate openly and transparently about our human rights policy performance and progress. We consult with our stakeholders on any potential or actual human rights impacts that may arise from our operations, activities or relationships. We respond to any queries or complaints from our stakeholders in a timely and respectful manner.
  • We seek continuous improvement and learning on human rights issues.
  • We review this policy annually to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
  • We update this policy as necessary to reflect changes in laws, standards, expectations or best practices.
  • We learn from our own and others’ experiences and seek to adopt and share good practices on human rights issues.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership, management and staff are each pivotal in monitoring and adhering to this policy and are openly encouraged to speak freely about not only areas we do well but any concerns or areas of improvement which are investigated and acted upon immediately.
  • The Board of Directors is responsible for approving this policy and ensuring its alignment with our vision, mission and values. The Board also oversees the implementation of this policy and holds the senior management accountable for its performance.
  • The Senior Management is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of this policy across our organization. The Senior Management also ensures that adequate resources, training and guidance are provided to all staff and stakeholders to ensure a safe, happy, fair and equal workplace.
